I have taken quite a break from my personal blog…life got busy, and I just needed a break from “having” to do one more thing!
Reflection on 2008
I did not blog with and for my students as I should have, either. Why? The answer in one word…yearbook. I know… that monster dominates my life too much during the fall semester. It takes up more time than my other four preps put together…or maybe those classes just suffer?
The reality is that I have spent less time on the year’s book than ever before because of the staff I have. Thanks to the most productive staff yet!
Good news! We met three deadlines and have returned two proof deadlines. The book in nearly two-thirds completed.
Newspaper also published its first hard copy newspaper…now that we have worked out some of the kinks, I hope for these reporters to be published much more.
While I am reflecting…maybe working with three clubs is too much?
I will also not be taking a master’s level course this semester nor teaching a class for Lyon College…might get to read a book every now and then! Or spend quality time with my family!
Time for family, out of necessity and want, must become more of a priority. As my mother advances into Alzheimer’s, I want to be able to spend time with her…while she still knows me.
As I think back over 2008, I realize this has been a busy and productive year. Why a year ago I did not even have this blog!
Contemplating 2009
I long ago quit making resolutions, for I simply was making a liar of myself! This year, I am setting goals:
- Maximize the ten brand-new computers I received right before Christmas! Talk about a morale booster for my classroom!
- Begin with the end-in-mind…plan two units before returing to school on January 6.
- Grade papers…grade papers…grade papers!
- Spend time with my family more.
- Become more active in my attendance at church…especially for my daughter’s sake.
Goals for today:
- Update church website.
- Grade papers.
- Arrange photos on one wall…doing a little redecorating now that the Christmas decorations are all put away.
- Complete that last load of laundry…where does it all come from?!
- Take my daughter out to eat at her favorate restaurant.
- Spend time with my husband target practicing with my hand-gun…my Valentine’s Day present two year’s ago. I am getting better…I now hit the targit! I was one of those who had watched too much TV…and recoiled before I ever pulled the trigger!
Thanks for journeying through my rambling thoughts with me…glad to be back blogging, glad 2008 was such a great year, and glad that today the sun is shining in Arkansas!
Happy New Year!
