Treasure Chest of Thoughts

Thanks, Mrs. Pam!

April 9, 2009 · 2 Comments

Just received word today….the first Conference for English Teachers for our part of the state is no longer just a dream!

This is, in part, thanks to working with such leaders in professional development as Pam Brooks, the Teacher Center Coordinator for our educational coop.  When I approached her with this idea, while upfront with her questions, she was also very supportive.

Thanks, Mrs. Pam!  Grand to know that dreams still do come true!

I would like to know about your Conference for English Teachers. I have yet to attend anything like that in Arkansas. I am attending LTF (Laying the Foundations) professional development this summer, and I have heard that it is good.

Just looked up LTF…sounds very interesting! Enjoy!

In Arkansas, we have Arkansas Curriculum Conference in November during which the various curriculum areas meet. The English/Language Arts organization is called the Arkansas Council of Teachers of English and Language Arts (ACTELA)…an affiliate of NCTE.

Hoping to attend this conference this fall…my professor for whom I completed a curriculum internship wants us to present my project on English Language Learners…we’ll see!

This type of conference has been my dream for my part of the state…for all those teachers who won’t attend such a state conference…some of them because they just don’t know about it…which is a thought….I need to include an overview of these organizations at the conference…thanks for helping me think!

More on conference as we post our conference wiki…okay?
